At the IMB fair in Cologne, last year, Ten Cate Permess presented presented the Dynamic Dot®. The Dynamic Dot® is a new coating concept, composed of a polymer with three components, each with a specific melting point.
The new coating concept consists of a chemical component; using a small microscopic grid, built in between the melting polymers. The concept also consists of a physical element caused by the change of the thermodynamics during the production process. By doing so, higher and more open points are created, which results in a more dynamic melting performance.
Due to its patented three-dimensional multi-layer coating structure, the Dynamic Dot® product range offers a number of advantages. It allows the coating to be applied to the material more gradually and more evenly, giving better adhesion and ensuring that the materials are easier to process.
The Dynamic Dot® interlining is multifunctional. It lends itself to innumerable clothing fabrics, so fewer machine adjustments are needed. Because of the ability to fuse at lower temperatures it reduces the risk of discolouring on the outside of the material.
At the IMB Ten Cate Permess also introduced new high quality solutions for topfuse, menswear and ladieswear.
Since more than 30 years Ten Cate Permess is known as an innovative producer of fusible interlinings. Ten Cate Permess serves the global market of the clothing industry by a widely spread distribution organisation with production facilities and sales offices in the Netherlands, Italy, United Kingdom, Hong Kong and China.
What is Dynamic Dot® ?
The Dynamic Dot® is the result of intensive research and a new thermodynamic and environmentally friendly production process. The Dynamic Dot® allows the end-user to fuse almost on every available substrate thanks to its three-component composition and its dynamic crystal structure. The coating concept consists of a chemical component, using a small microscopic grid, built in between the melting polymers. The concept also consists of a physical element; the thermodynamics of the process are adjusted. By doing so, higher and more open points are created, which results in a more dynamic melting performance.
What are the advantages of Dynamic Dot® ?
Todays fashion industry and its distribution channels are driven by shorter fashion-cycles and a constant demand for further decreasing stock levels and delivery-times.
This creates a high demand for flexibility in the production chains. Garment manufacturers have to change from low cost to flexible low cost operations with lead-times less than two weeks. Suppliers have to find creative solutions to follow the flexibility demands.
The Dynamic Dot® allows the users of fusible interlinings to improve quality and convenience. It enables designers, manufacturers and end-users to improve their product quality and create more convenience in the logistic processes. Less visible and tangible benefits include savings on energy and a higher production speed: work can now be carried out at lower temperatures.
Moreover, the interlining is multifunctional. It lends itself to innumerable clothing fabrics, so fewer machine adjustments are needed. It also reduces the risk of discolouring on the outside of the material.
The new developed coating dot combines the advantages of all-available coating concepts and adds to it the additional advantage of a higher dot-point as well as the advantages of several melt indexes in one coating.
Better adhesion
A combination of low temperature melt, medium temperature melt and high-temperature melt polyamide and polyester thermoplasts is resulting in an increased adhesion of 40 to 60% (initial and after multiple washing). The increased height of the dot-point results in a better yield of the pressure during all fusing conditions. Specially on finished fabrics or voluminous fabrics this characteristic gives fantastic results.
Softer handle
The renewed coating-distribution of the Dynamic Dot® on the carrier fabric, consisting of a combination of coating dots with various dot sizes gives the optimal combination of adhesion and handle. There is no scatter-coating residu on the interlining which makes soft-combinations firmer than required.
Reduced strike back
The composition of the Dynamic Dot® is designed to reduce strike back to the highest possible level. The high melting-point polymers form the center of the coating dot, thus preventing the coating to strike back. Independent test results show a considerable reduction up to 70%, subject to the type of fabric and fusing conditions used, versus convental coatings.
Easy Tack/multifunctional
The three-component composition of the Dynamic Dot® with a combination of low, medium and high melt thermoplastic polymers allows the end-user to use a wider range of fusing conditions or to use a wider range of fabrics under the same fusing conditions. The manufacturer has the option to reduce temperature, increase production and to save energy.
Excellent on finished fabrics
Fashion and functionality of garments are often supported by the use of special finishing effects. No-iron fabrics, easy-wear fabrics and other specially treated materials have properties often created by special finishes. These finishes act as a barrier when laminating with fusible interlinings. Due to its dynamic crystal structure, the Dynamic Dot® offers a better effect of the press-pressure. The rheology of the Dynamic Dot® after exposing to temperature and pressure allows the thermoplastic molecules to penetrate through the finished surface into the fibres of the outerwear, thus creating better adhesion on finished fabrics. |
